The Silver Sardines’ debut album, That Whole House, is written, sung, and played at times
through a wry smile, at others through a windowpane soaked with rain. The figure at the end of
the street moves closer, becomes familiar, then turns off; you wake from a dream just as you
begin to see through its shadowy periphery. The band revels in these scenes of melancholy, but
similarly tries its hand at more banal party tricks: planning grand gestures with the next
paycheque, lamenting an oversized winter coat. While these songs complain, and reminisce,
and pace back and forth, they are ultimately a celebration of the day to day and of all its small
joys and tragedies.

That Whole House was written by Malte Zumbansen, and brought to life by Isaac Seglins,
Nelson Duchastel, Hannah Blair, and Antoine Laroche. It was recorded by William Poulin at
Sud-Ouest Recording Service in Verdun, Montreal, just across the canal.
